Stella Sora on Steam: Launch, Cross-Save and Version 2.0 Explained
Stella Sora arrives on Steam with its 1st Anniversary update. Learn what the game is, how to carry over your progress, how payments work and what 2.0 adds.
Stella Sora is Yostar’s free-to-play anime action RPG, and it is trending because its Steam version launches alongside the game’s 1st Anniversary update (Version 2.0) on October 19, 2026 (UTC-7). Existing players on mobile or the PC launcher can bring their progress over, as long as their account is linked to email, Google or Apple.
Below is what the game is, how the Steam launch works, how to move your save safely, and what the anniversary update adds. Details are current as of October 2026 and may change with later patches.
What is Stella Sora?
Stella Sora comes from Yostar, the publisher behind Blue Archive and Azur Lane. It was announced in December 2024 as a cross-platform RPG for PC, Android and iOS, and it launched worldwide in October 2025.
It is a top-down, light-action adventure. You play an amnesiac protagonist, called the “Tyrant”, exploring the world of Nova with characters known as Trekkers. Story sections play out in a visual-novel style.
Combat runs in real time with roguelike elements:
- You build a team of up to three Trekkers. You control one, and the other two act as support.
- The main roguelike tower mode has you choose random upgrades (called Potentials) as you level up during a run, while earning permanent progress between runs.
- Beyond that there are boss and challenge modes, plus auto-battle options.
Like most Yostar titles, new Trekkers and gear come mainly from limited-time recruitment banners (gacha).
Stella Sora on Steam: the key facts
Before this, the PC version was only available through Yostar’s own launcher from the official website. The Steam release adds a second PC option. Here is what Yostar’s official Steam FAQ covers:
| Topic | What applies on Steam |
|---|---|
| Price | Free-to-play |
| Login options | Email, Google, Apple or Steam |
| Cross-platform progress | Yes, if the account is bound to one of the supported login methods |
| In-game purchases | Steam Wallet only; item prices match other platforms |
| Guest accounts | Must be linked to email, Google or Apple before progress can sync |
| Regional servers | Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan accounts cannot be used on the Global Steam version |
| Steam login on other clients | Not yet supported on Android, iOS or the standalone PC client |
That last point matters. If you create a brand-new account with Steam login only, you can’t sign in to that account on your phone right now. Yostar advises binding your account to an email if you want to switch between platforms.
When exactly does it launch?
The Steam version goes live after the Version 2.0 maintenance on October 19, 2026, in UTC-7 (US Pacific time), according to Gachago and Yostar’s own announcements. The maintenance window runs into the early hours of October 20, so some outlets, mostly in Asia and Europe, list the date as October 20. Both are correct for their time zones.
How to move your existing progress to Steam
If you already play on mobile or the PC launcher, follow these steps before you sign in on Steam. Use only the official in-game menus, and never share your login details with anyone.
- Check how your account is bound. On the device you play on now, open Settings → Account → User Center. See whether you have an email, Google or Apple login attached.
- Link a guest account first. If you have been playing as a guest, bind it to email, Google or Apple from the same menu. Otherwise your progress will not sync to Steam.
- Confirm you are on the Global server. Accounts from the Japan, Korea, China or Taiwan servers won’t work on the Global Steam version.
- Install Stella Sora from Steam and launch it after maintenance ends.
- Log in with the same method you checked in step 1, not with a new Steam login, if you want your existing save.
- Optionally bind Steam as an extra login. Once you are in, you can add your Steam account under Settings → Account → User Center → Bind Other Accounts.
If your progress seems to be missing
Yostar’s FAQ explains that a fresh account on first launch almost always means you used a different login method than your original account. Go back to your old device, look up the email bound under User Center, and log in on Steam with that address. Your save is not deleted just because a second, empty account was created.
What the 1st Anniversary update (Version 2.0) adds
The Steam launch shares a date with Stella Sora’s biggest update so far. Based on Yostar’s preview and coverage by Kaiden.gg and Gachago, Version 2.0 includes:
New characters and cosmetics
- Firstlight Noya, a new limited ★5 Lux Trekker, on the At the First Piercing Light banner. Reports say it runs until November 9, 2026, 19:59 (UTC-7).
- My Guiding Star, a new ★5 Runic Disc.
- New appearances (outfits) for Shia and Firenze, plus a Noya 2D appearance tied to a login event.
Progression and quality-of-life changes
- Authorization Level cap raised from 40 to 60.
- Tyrant’s Tower (Beta), a new system.
- Record Adjustment, which lets you redistribute Potential levels and Musical Notes.
- Vita Autopilot, which can play Quick Battle for you.
- Skill and Potential adjustments for five Trekkers.
Anniversary events and story
- A 1st Anniversary recruitment event, One Starlit Year, One Destined Reunion, with milestone rewards.
- Login campaigns that hand out Fated Reunion Limited Tickets. These run roughly from October 20 to November 10, according to coverage.
- New main story chapters: reports say the first part releases on October 20 and the second half on October 30.
Banner end dates and event schedules are exactly the kind of detail Yostar sometimes adjusts. Check the in-game notices or the official news page before you plan your pulls around them.
Steam or the official PC launcher?
Both are official. They use the same account system and the same item prices, so the choice is mostly about convenience:
- Choose Steam if you want Steam library integration, Steam Wallet payments, and updates handled by Steam.
- Stay on the official launcher if it’s already set up and working for you. Nothing in Yostar’s FAQ suggests you have to switch.
If you want to play on both PC and phone, use an email (or Google/Apple) login rather than Steam-only, because Steam login doesn’t work on the mobile clients yet.
Will my PC run it?
At launch, RPG Site reported modest PC requirements: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, around 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 750-class GPU at minimum, with about 12 GB of storage. Those figures come from 2025 and may have changed with Version 2.0, so check the current requirements on the Steam store page before installing.
Bottom line
For new players, the Steam launch is an easy way to try Stella Sora for free, and the anniversary update means there are plenty of login rewards to start with. For existing players, the only real risk is logging in with the wrong method. Check your bound account first, use that same login on Steam, and your progress should carry over.
